Culture Division manages an extensive programme of in-house festivals and participation in national initiatives, throughout the year. These include Letterkenny Trad Week, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Bealtaine Festival, Sound! Film Soundtrack Festival, Cruinniú na nÓg, Heritage Week, Culture Night, Wainfest and Donegal Bay and Blue Stacks Festival.
The Earagail Arts Festival was initiated by Donegal County Council in 1989 and the local authority continues to be among the event’s most significant funders. The Arts Service is also a founding partner with Fidget Feet Aerial Dance Theatre and An Grianán Theatre in the annual Irish Aerial Dance Festival and with Arts Over Borders in the Lughnasa International Friel Fest and it supports a number of annual festivals which are co-funded by the Arts Council’s Festivals Investment Scheme (FIS) including Inishowen Traditional Singers Circle’s Inishowen Singing Weekend, Féile Roise Rua on Oileán Árainn Mhór and Inishowen Traditional Music Project’s Féile na hInse.
