Supporting the Creation of new Artistic Work

Donegal County Council is committed to working with a wide variety of local arts artists, arts groups and venues to enable a range of professional theatre and music performances to happen throughout the county.  The Council is also actively involved in the commissioning and co-funding of new performance works by Donegal artists and is especially supportive of new work which may hold a particular relevance for local audiences.

Among the professional productions created, presented and toured with the support of Donegal County Council in recent times have been presentations by North West Opera (‘Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ by Stephen Sondheim),Maura Logue’s ‘Dry Dance Hall Days’ drama series,  Balor Rep Theatre/DCA (‘Don’t Go There’ by Martin Jim McFadden and ‘Legends of Ulster’ by Frances Browne and Shirley Ann Bonner), Inishowen Carnival Group (‘Cybertribe’, ‘The Alchemist’ and ‘Caibleadh’ street spectacles), Aislingí Dance Academy (‘The Tale of Fairyfoot’ by Frances Browne and Shirley Ann Bonner), Margaret Hannon (‘Sister Black’), Rónán Galvin (‘Scéal Loch Finne’) and Vincent Kennedy (‘Colmcille, Dove of Peace’).
