The library is about books and so much more... 

There are many reasons why you should join your local library service. Your library card allows you to borrow and return items to and from any library across the country.  

There are currently 330 library branches in Ireland, including 13 branches, 8 Taobh Tíre Centres and a shared cross-border mobile library service here in Donegal. 

 

By signing up for FREE membership you can: 

  • Borrow physical books, CD’s(CDs), DVD’s(DVDs), PC games and access magazines and newspapers 
  • Borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and eMagazines  
  • Access daily eNewspapers and eBooks for children in multiple languages 
  • Take an online course 
  • Discover your family tree or local history 
  • Access free Wi-Fi, use PC’s and Apple Macs in select branches. 
  • Sign up for classes to learn new skills 
  • Join a book club 
  • Free events all year round  

How to join the library 

To join the library, simply fill out this online form, and then bring one piece of ID and proof of address (such as a bill, bank statement or a letter from a local or government service) to your local library to collect your card. 

You can also fill out the form at the library if you don’t want to do it online – just make sure to bring your ID and proof of address with you.
