Meeting and Study Facilities

Back To My Local Library

Study Spaces
Any one over the age of 12 can visit the library to study during opening hours. In some locations there are specific study pods for groups which can be booked in advance, and we have tables dotted throughout our libraries which can be used for study purposes without the need to book. You do not need to be a member to use our study facilities.

•    Children are the legal responsibility of their parents and carers, who should accompany their child while in the library. This person must be an adult.
•    Children under 12 years of age must be supervised at all times in the library.
•    Please ensure that children over 12 years of age visiting the library unaccompanied are members, have an up-to-date contact number for a parent and/or guardian and are aware of closing times.
For full information, please read the Code of Behaviour for the Protection and Safeguarding of Children in Public Libraries and our Code of Conduct.

Access to Public PCs
You need to be a library member to use the library computers, laptops, and tablets. We advise you contact your local library in advance to book a session which lasts 55 minutes and is free. It is possible to extend that time if there is no one else waiting to access one. Membership is free and is instant. Find out how to become a member HERE.

All branches have Wi-Fi available during normal opening hours. To access it you all you need is your library card number.

Charging personal laptops/ phones etc
Where there is a socket available in a public area and you have your own cable, it doesn’t trail across the library and doesn’t disrupt other users, you can charge your personal device. Anyone doing so does it at their own risk and Donegal County Council cannot be held responsible for any theft or damage in doing so.

Meeting Spaces
If you have a group that would like to meet up on a regular basis and use library facilities free of charge, please get in touch with your local library to discuss options. We often provide space for conversation classes, knitting groups and more at some of our locations.

Central Library and Leabharlann Phobail Ghaoth Dobhair can provide dedicated rooms which community and voluntary groups and individuals can use to hold meetings, classes, workshops, and events. Please see our meeting room policy HERE
